Hospice Wellington is excited to announce an online raffle for a beautiful homemade quilt - Grab your tickets now!
This beautiful one-of-a-king quilt was hand-pieced from 2” squares by Anne C. Bawden, who died at Hospice Wellington, Guelph at age 76 in 2017. The quilt was made from scraps from her family’s clothing over many decades, some of which date back to the 40’s and 50’s. The Traditional Irish Chain pattern was used in the large blocks of solid fabrics. The Quilt size is 56” x 75”
After her death, the top was completed by members of the Community Outreach group of the Royal City Quilters’ Guild. The backing was donated by Lucy Prior. It was machine-quilted by Joan Hug- Valeriote, in a feather meander pattern bound by Jan Snell and subsequently presented to Hospice in Anne’s memory in 2023.
This quilt was made by a collaboration of caring hands, with careful consideration and unique materials, truly one of a kind and crafted with love. Hospice Wellington is grateful for this beautiful donation that can now carry forward the care it was made with to help care for others. A beautiful gift to the community.
