About VON Cape Breton
VON Canada has been pioneering care at home for over 120
years. Today, we are a highly-trusted non-profit organization that
works with our clients, employees, volunteers and partners to
provide innovative clinical, personal and social support to people
who want the comfort and peace of mind of living in their own
homes and communities.
In Cape Breton, beyond nursing care, VON provides community
service programming that benefits families, seniors, and their
caregivers. Our mission is to help people live in their homes and
communities by delivering the caring support that they and their
families need.
COVID-19 Impact
All of our programs are possible due to the generous donations of
individuals and organizations in our community and local fundraising
initiatives. Across Nova Scotia, VON employees are on the front
lines of the COVID-19 response. Our dedicated team of VON
nurses and caregivers are delivering essential medical care in
people’s homes, where they need to be. Key services are also
being offered in new and safe ways, ensuring people have food
security and virtual connection to social support. These efforts are
essential, and in many cases help reduce further strain on our fellow
medical professionals in hospitals.
We are seeking new and innovative ways to support our
programming, as COVID-19 has fundamentally changed the way in
which we are able to fundraise. We are seeking your support to
keep important community programs running by inviting you to
participate in our 50/50 raffle! Each month we will split the jackpot
with one lucky winner. With your support through this raffle, we’ll be
able to continue serving vulnerable people in our community by
delivering nutritious meals, offering virtual wellness checks and
programming, and providing essential transportation right here in
Cape Breton.
