Second Chance Animal Rescue Society is a non-profit, registered charitable organization that is dedicated to reducing the number of homeless, injured, and abandoned animals in northern Alberta. SCARS rescues animals from municipal pounds, and provides, spay/neuter and other resources to families in rural communities where a lack of pet services can lead to animal neglect. In doing so, we have helped communities become safer and healthier. While SCARS receives occasional voluntary donations from those communities, there is no sustained or predictable financial support, and no government funding from other levels.
